Juice Cleanse Recipes

3 Day Juice Cleanse (source)
It's most people's summer holiday's right now so, if you're anything like me, there's been a lot of drinking cider in the sun, eating buckets of ice cream, barbecued meats and partying away until the early hours. This, of course, puts a lot of stresses and strain on our skin, hair, digestive systems, minds and health in general.
I've been thinking about embarking on a 3-Day juice fast for a while now to detox my body and give it a rest from all the nasties I've been putting inside it. There's a lot of hype at the moment around juice cleanses, especially through lots of celebrity endorsements. You can buy juices ready made but most of them carry a pretty hefty price tag and it's much more fun to do some juicing yourself and make your own at home. I thought I'd share with you a couple of juice cleanse recipes I've found for some inspiration!

The Green Goddess:
source

Ingredients:
6 leaves of kale
1 cucumber
2 apples
4 celery stalks
1/2 lemon
1 piece of ginger
(recipe found here)

The lemon and ginger in the recipe will give it a great taste as well as detox your body. This juice is packed full of vitamin C & K. The kale contains iron, which we could all use more of (especially women).

The Pink Lady:
source
Ingredients:
1 beetroot
5 carrots
1 sweet potato
(recipe found here)

The sweet potato - a bit of an unusual ingredient for a juice recipe but it's so full of goodness. This humble root vegetable contains vitamins D, B6 & C as well as iron and magnesium (which is good for anti-stress). Carrots are best known for their anti-ageing and cancer preventing properties. They also contain vitamin A which helps detox your liver, flushing toxins from it. Beetroots contain a good dose of fibre which you'll need during a juice fast!
